DC-DC MV Transformer

Background: Using DC, power can be transferred over longer distances without the need for an offshore substation. Industry is looking into multi-terminal DC Grids and development and demonstration of medium voltage DC:DC convertors, including high frequency power transformers. These could be placed in the turbine tower/nacelle and connected directly to an MVDC grid. This would be a necessary step for HVDC Integration. Innovation: Work is required to permit high voltage terminations within the confined space of an offshore turbine.
