Offshore Wind Innovation Hub Project Manager
Andrew is a Chartered Engineer and qualified Project Manager with close to 10 years’ experience in the offshore wind industry. Before joining ORE Catapult Andrew delivered a range of projects for one of the major turbine OEMs in the field of O&M. His experience extends to prototype testing, delivering complex logistical solutions, and major equipment tendering. Within the ORE Catapult Andrew manages various collaborative, cross-industry projects focusing on fostering innovation and delivering valuable research in offshore wind.
Claire leads on the convening and supply chain engagement activities of the Offshore Wind Innovation Hub, and is an Innovation Manager in the ORE Catapult Business Development team. Claire engages with the UK supply chain, seeking companies who can address the challenges of industry through technology innovation. Before her work in OWIH, Claire undertook a four-year Engineering Doctorate with the Industrial Doctoral Centre for Offshore Renewable Energy (IDCORE).
Kacper leads on the innovation roadmapping activities of the Offshore Wind Innovation Hub, and is a Strategy Analyst in the Research & Disruptive Innovation team at the ORE Catapult. The OWIH innovation roadmaps are advanced prioritisation tools that identify the innovation needs of the offshore wind sector. Prior to joining OWIH, Kacper worked for McKinsey & Company (management consulting firm) as an analyst in a variety of projects.
Knowledge Transfer Manager
John manages the KTN delivery work for the Offshore Wind Innovation Hub, and works in the Energy team of Innovate UK’s Knowledge Transfer Network. John leads on the Offshore Wind Innovation Exchange (OWiX) programme, and has responsibility for out-of-sector stakeholder engagement.
Andrew manages the OREC delivery side of Offshore Wind Innovation Exchange. He joined the Catapult in May 2012. With a background in Market Research and Business Development Andrew works as an advisor to the Catapult’s network of innovators – helping them to identify routes to market, assess business cases and find funding avenues and investment opportunities. Andrew has six years’ experience in offshore renewables, spending three years in international Business Development working with leading renewable technology developers seeking to prove their new innovations through testing and demonstration.
Dr Chong Ng
Head of Applied Research
Dr Chong Ng leads on providing expert technical review of the innovation roadmapping activities of OWIH, and is Head of Applied Research at ORE Catapult. He leads a specialist team conducting applied research in all areas of offshore renewable energy. Chong is a Chartered Engineer and has a PhD in electrical power quality. Chong has published more than 50 international research papers, a book on offshore wind farm technologies, design, and operation; and holds a number of international patents.
Senior Strategy Manager
David works as a Senior Strategy Manager in ORE Catapult and is responsible for strategic planning, government engagement and strategic initiatives like Offshore Wind Innovation Hub. David has broad experience of the energy sector including roles with the UK Government, International Energy Agency and the North Carolina Energy Office ranging from R&D, to policy and programme development and management. He has pursued research and analysis into linkages between innovation and environmental policies and authored two books on the subject while at Chatham House.
Operational Performance Director
Chris is a Director and member of the Executive Management Team of the ORE Catapult, leading the Operational Performance team with a project portfolio in excess of £40m, including Offshore Wind Innovation Hub, SME engagement, testing and research activities. Chris has spent over 20 years working across a wide range of senior management roles within the renewable energy sector including Non-Executive Director position of Renewable UK.
